watch Out for a Scam in Putnam County

The Putnam County sheriff’s office is urging residents to be on the lookout for a phone scam. Some are getting calls from someone who claims they are with the IRS and says the resident owes overdue taxes. The number that comes up includes an area code from Washington, D.C. but deputies think the person who is calling is outside the U.S. If you get a call like that you can report it to the Putnam County Sheriff’s office.
