WV American Water Requests Surcharge

West Virginia America Water is looking for approval from the West Virginia Public Service Commission to add a monthly 89-cent surcharge to customers’ bills. An attorney for the company says it’s necessary after the floods and would address problems with the aging infrastructure. A hearing date is tentatively set for early November. City leaders in Charleston want the hearing date to be postponed so flood victims have extra time to recover without bill increases.
