WVU’s Business Climate

West Virginia’s business climate is expected to stay weak for the next few months. WVU’s Mountain State Business Index was flat during April and the trend will likely continue into the summer. The index gauges the business climate in the state and says the ongoing plunge in coal production continues to weigh heavily in many areas. It takes into account seven indicators, including building permits, unemployment insurance and coal production.
