Yeager Airport Plans Runway Improvements

Major improvements could be coming to Yeager Airport. The gazette-Mail reports it’s a proposed $290 million emergency infrastructure project for rebuilding and extending the runway after the March 2015 landslide. Airport leaders have presented the plan to Gov. Jim Justice’s staff, hoping that the governor will send it on to the Trump Administration for inclusion on its High Priority Infrastructure Projects list that could speed up construction. Some public land could be sacrificed as part of the project, but there are also hopes for a new outdoor multi-sports athletic complex at neighboring Coonskin Park to make up some of that ground.
