Grants Heighten Awareness About E-Recycling
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection has approved 23 recycling grants for electronic devices totaling more than $177,000. The DEP says the grants were awarded to 18 county and regional solid waste authorities, along with the towns of Fayetteville, Grafton, and Kingwood, and the Kanawha and Monongalia county commissions. The covered electronic device recycling program was established in 2008. It requires manufacturers to register their brands with the state. Fees collected from the program enable counties and municipalities to apply for grants for electronic device collection programs.
