Power Comany Looks to Add Wind Power
Appalachian Power wants to add more wind power to its energy portfolio. The company is seeking proposals that would allow it to own one or more wind projects, or purchase the energy under long-term agreements. It’s seeking up to 150 megawatts of wind within West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky, among other states. The company has set a Jan. 29 deadline for pre-qualification forms. For companies that get past that hurdle, proposals are due by April 1. Wind projects selected by Appalachian are subject to regulatory review in Virginia and West Virginia. The company now purchases 375 megawatts of wind generation from the regional power grid.
