Stolen Mining Equipment Linked to Fayette County Man

A traffic arrest in Fayette County may provide a link to stolen mine equipment. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department says deputies near Mount Hope pulled over 40-year-old David E. Stanley of Beaver Monday morning for traveling too fast for the weather conditions. While Stanley was being arrested on the grounds of driving under the influence and other charges, investigators found a large amount of mining equipment, with some of it seemingly having been freshly cut. An unidentified passenger inside the vehicle was on federal supervised release for his previous involvement in the theft of mining equipment. Deputies are working to find the owner of the equipment.
