Charges Pending After Dead Animals Found in a House
Sixteen cats and one dog were among nearly two dozen dead animals seized from the home of a Charleston woman this week. Officers were called after a complaint by a neighbor who said a strong odor was wafting from the house. Besides the dog and cats, the dead animals also included two fish, a rat and two hamsters. A mixed-breed dog and a cat were still alive – barely – and they were seized. The Kanawha County Humane Association said animal cruelty charges would be sought against homeowner.
