New Program Helps Displaced Workers Find Jobs
A special graduation ceremony was held yesterday in Huntington for laid off workers who are ready to go to work in different fields such as construction, installing solar panels, and woodworking.
The Coalfield Development Program trains workers who have been laid off in West Virginia and who are in desperate need of work.
One graduate, Glen Wilson, was discharged from the Marines. He started wood working classes and landed a job before his graduation.
One of the next steps for Coalfield Development is to reach out to coal mines in Southern West Virginia.
