Woman with MS rescued
More than 100 people had to be rescued just from Kanawha County during the flood. One resident had to wait out the deluge alone. While Debra Secrist can walk into her own home again early Friday morning, she could have swum instead. In about five hours, it went above her waist. Because of MS, Secrist has weakened muscles. With her husband stuck in Charleston, all she could do was stand and hold on. She had no water and no food, standing on pure adrenaline. She had just a cellphone and tablet she hoped would get her through. Finally, 15 hours later, around 3 p.m. Friday, a neighbor’s son came and got her out.
