Kroger Donates Share of Lottery Winnings to Flood Relief
Employees of a West Virginia Kroger store that won a $10,000 bonus for selling a winning Powerball ticket are giving most of it to help victims. Associates pick charities to receive the bonus. So when Barb and Sam Ratliff of Elkview won $1 million with a Powerball ticket he bought at the Beckley Crossing Kroger, the employees chose to donate $9,000 of the bonus to the American Red Cross to be distributed to flood victims in West Virginia, as well as $500 to the American Cancer Society in Beckley and $500 to Susan G. Komen West Virginia.
