Nitro Officer on Administrative Leave After Shooting
Police have released the name of a Nitro police officer who shot and killed a man after he says the man fired a gun at him. Nitro Police Chief Brian Oxley confirms Sgt. T.A. Jarrell shot and killed 52-year-old David Lane Cooke, of Nitro, Saturday night after responding to a call about a domestic incident. Oxley says Jarrell was walking toward the suspect when the man shot at him and Jarrell returned fire. Jarrell is an 11-year veteran of the force and has been placed on paid administrative leave.
