Yeager Board Goes Over Financial Records With Fine Tooth Comb
Yeager Airport’s finance committee is faced with the task of analyzing financial records after the March landslide to see if there was any questionable spending. They’re also looking into payments made since 2012 to Corotoman Inc. and other entities owned by Northgate office park developer John Wellford. The Charleston Gazette-Mail says Corotoman had received checks totaling $650,000 between April and June, apparently without contracts in place. Former Yeager executive director Rick Atkinson okayed hillside removal work for Corotoman, and there are questions about whether it came before the full board. Atkinson resigned July 20. The Gazette-Mail quotes the board saying there’s no evidence of wrongdoing by Atkinson.
