Highway Worker & kickbacks
A highway contractor and four workers are facing federal charges of accepting kickbacks. U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld says the group worked out a scheme to route one and half million dollars to a South Carolina engineering consulting company. The scheme took place between 2008 and 2014, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office began investigating the case in September of 2014. The West Virginia Division of Highways released a statement yesterday saying that they have “no tolerance for employees who engage in illegal activity.”
