Trial Underway For a Man Accused of Killing His Wife
Trial has begun for a Raleigh County man charged in connection with the death of his wife. 61-year-old Johnnie Ray Farley pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Lynette Denise Farley this week. Police say Johnnie Farley reported his wife missing last September, and was arrested last October after her body was found buried on his farm near the Mercer and Raleigh county line. Prosecutors argue Farley had planned the murder and had confessed to killing his wife. The defense told the jury that his client’s marriage “was falling apart” and he had been under a great deal of stress, and that his wife had been seeing another man.
