Blackhawk Mining Plans Layoffs

WARN notices are out, meaning miners are finding out they’ll be out of a job soon. Blackhawk Mining issued WARN notices Monday for more than 200 people in several counties. The company is laying off 146 employees at Panther Creek Mining in Eskdale. Another 80 employees will be layed off at Hamden Coal in Logan and Mingo counties. A statement from the company says it’s reducing its workforce on March 11th because of market conditions.
