Budget Plans
A West Virginia lawmaker is pushing a plan he says will make up a budget deficit but not raise general taxes. Delegate Patrick Lane of Kanawha County says some budget cuts, borrowing money from the rainy day fund and even a hike in the tobacco tax would pave the way to a balanced budget. The Republican announced his plan yesterday while calling on Governor Tomblin and the Democrats to abandon plans to impose a 270-million dollars tax increase.
