Charlotte Pritt
West Virginia’s Democratic nominee for governor from 20 years ago is entering this year’s race outside of the two major political parties. Charlotte Pritt filed with the secretary of state Friday to run for governor as a member of the Mountain Party, West Virginia’s affiliate of the Green Party. Pritt, who served in the state Legislature, beat now-U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin in the 1996 Democratic primary for governor. She lost to former Republican Gov. Cecil Underwood in the general election.
