Downtown Parking Changes in Effect

Charleston’s city council voted this week to make changes to downtown parking. Now if your meter runs out the fine will be $10 instead of $5. Parking garage policies will also change, and it’s free to park after 5 PM on weekdays and all day on the weekends in those stalls. Fines for blocking a driveway or parking in a loading zone also doubled, and all of the changes are effective now.
