Drug Epidemic

West Virginia is leading a group of 37 states and territories urging health insurance companies to examine financial incentives that contribute to the opioid epidemic. Attorney General Patrick Morrisy spoke on the Marshall campus yesterday in Huntington and said they have a strategy to speed up non-opioid alternatives for treatment of chronic, non-cancer pain. The plan asks insurers to review their coverage and payment policies, among other things.
