Faking Cancer
A Virginia man could spend two decades in prison for defrauding The Greenbrier. Federal prosecutors say Carmelo “Carmine” Carrozza left his job at the White Sulphur Springs resort but continued collecting his salary after telling managers he was undergoing cancer treatments. The 57-year-old was paid during his purported cancer diagnosis and treatments from June through mid-December of 2013. Federal officials said yesterday Carrozza entered a guilty plea to wire fraud and will be sentenced over the summer.
