Funding Approved for Police Body Cameras
Among the things discusssed at last night’s Charleston City Council meeting — funding options for police body cameras. The Charleston Police Department wants all its officers to wear body cameras. But that would require a city council vote to approve an $86,000 grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, and the money and would be used to provide 60 body cameras and a server for the video. City council members approved a resolution for the funding last night, that will also fund over $33,000 in crime scene supplies for the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department.
