West Virginia’s governor says thousands of homes and businesses across the state have been damaged or destroyed in the flooding. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin said during a press conference yesterday, that thousands of homes will not be habitable again and thousands of others will need to be fixed. The flooding started Thursday when storms dumped up to 9 inches of rain over a period of a few hours, causing flash flooding that took at least 23 lives.
