Highway worker dies

A highway worker has died in an accident in rural Mason County where a tree that fell during a recent storm was being removed. The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports 52-year-old Steven Lloyd Oldaker of Letart died Monday evening. The Mason County sheriff’s office said Oldaker died when trying to remove a tree from Union Campground Road.
Transportation Department spokeswoman Carrie Jones said firefighters were cutting the tree in the New Haven area when highway workers arrived. Oldaker was walking near the tree when it fell and pinned him.
