Murder Plot is Foiled

Deputies are investigating a burglary case on Grapevine Road in Sissonville. A caller told deputies there was a man in a ski mask in his house when he got home and he took a gun away from him in a scuffle. The alleged intruder, Joseph Lawrence told deputies he was there to protect the man’s wife, who had been a victim of domestic violence. Deputies say Mrs. Skeens and Mr. Lawrence conspired to kill Mr. Skeens and would use the staged burglary to cover their plan. Lawrence was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, a felony. Other charges may materialize as the investigation continues.
