Naval Base

The fate of the former Sugar Grove Naval Base in Pendleton County is still very much up in the air. A deal had been reached to sell the location in late July through an online auction but the buyer was not able to complete the transaction. Federal officials said Tuesday they are planning to re-open the site up for auction early next month. The operation was a Navy Information Operations Command base and was occupied by the military until about a year ago.
