New Scam Warning from the Attorney General
Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is warning West Virginians about a scam involving bogus credit card debt collections. Morrissey says the callers target consumers about an overdue credit card debt and insist on getting payment information over the phone. The scam has been around for a while, but it is taking an aggressive upswing. The attorney general’s Consumer Protection Division reported Tuesday that it has received around 70 complaint calls per hour. Consumers have claimed to be receiving up to 80 calls a day related to this scam.
