PSC Sends Order to Appalachian Power
The Public Service Commission of West Virginia issued an Order Tuesday requesting Appalachian Power maintain, for at least four years, any infrastructure installed at the Company’s Kanawha River Plant that would be used if the plant was to be converted to burn natural gas. The Commission also wants APCo to continue to watch the status of the Kanawha River, Glen Lyn and Sporn Plants, in case the existing infrastructure should be used for alternative generation projects. With the future in mind, the PSC wants Appalachian Power to stay flexible, and capable of converted existing processes to alternative fuels in light of a Supreme Court ruling.
