Republican candidates throughout West Virginia’s ballot are hoping to get a bump from Donald Trump. But Republicans gave themselves extra work to do when they eliminated straight-ticket voting in 2015. The option allowed voters to click a single box to support all of one party’s candidates. In 2014, it helped the GOP gain control of the Legislature for the first time in decades. West Virginia has veered to the right in recent years, but voters have split tickets in major races.
