WV Man is in Trouble for Shooting a Deer in DC
Police have accused a West Virginia man of shooting a deer in the nation’s capital, close enough to residences that neighbors called police. WTTG-TV reports the gunfire was reported Tuesday night and when officers arrived in the woods, they found Vernon Goyne, of Berkeley Springs, dressed in camouflage about to hit a deer with a stick. The animal had been shot but was still alive. Hunting in the District is illegal and Goyne is now facing five charges, including animal cruelty and possession of an unregistered firearm. The Washington Humane Society says the deer had to be euthanized. The buck had 14 points on its antlers and weighed about 250 pounds.
